I got someone new to hold

The hand of a long lonely man,

Sittin’ by me, beside me, lookin’

  Like a whole lotta beautiful.

  We could take a drive

On this do nothin’ kinda night,

  Ride through the countryside,

See through the dark before we park,

Get a bit farther than where we are,

Knowin’ that when the mood hits us with all its might,

  Nothin’ could be wrong because

It’s been only just completely right.

My jacket’s in the back; it

  Could never leave me cold

Cuz I got you, a whole lotta beautiful.

I could ask you where you’ve been

  My whole life

  Until this moment, now,

  But I won’t because I don’t

  Care – what, where,

Or even how that led to this

Or what life used to hold.

I could never miss the least of it.

I got you for a while, and it’s always full

  Of a whole lotta beautiful.

  This crisp air,

  Your long hair,

  Your soft kiss,

  Your sweet lips, fingertips

  Running down my arm again,

  Everything the night brings,

  The right things

That leave me lost in a whirlwind,

And I don’t wanna go back to when

  I never knew

A girl that could make me choose

  Between nothingness and this absence

Of all my cares in a world where

I feel so incomplete, without any sense.

You know it’s you, the most wonderful,

And you’re only a whole lotta beautiful.

I could ask you where you’ve been

  My whole life

  Until this moment, now,

  But I won’t because I don’t

  Care – what, where,

Or even how that led to this

Or what life used to hold.

I could never miss the least of it.

I got you for a while, and it’s always full

  Of a whole lotta beautiful.

  You’re a whole lotta beautiful,

  More than a little more

Than the one I’ve been waiting for,

All I could have hoped in a helpless moment of

Chaos in my mind, no longer sure of much anymore

Except that you’re the best, better than any of the rest before,

You’re the one out of so many that’s worth the risk

Of losing and being turned loose after such a toll

Because you’re a whole lotta beautiful.

  I’ll give up

  When my time’s up.

  So little lasts forever.

  If you’ve had enough,

  You can say enough,

  And I’ll try to understand

  Why we can’t be together.

  I won’t complain; I hope I don’t.

I know this time is like it’s somethin’ that I stole,

Not really for me with such a whole lotta beautiful.

  My Whole Life Through

I wish that you could see

That you should be with me.

I could fill in the holes

  Left of you from

  All of those bitter memories.

  When you smile that smile,

  I nearly lose my mind.

I can’t take the eyes off of you

  That never thought they’d find

Someone that looks the way you do,

  Whose lips seem like they’re

  Sweet to consume.

  If there is still room

  In the heart left behind,

  What’s not torn up inside,

  Nobody would ever love you

The way I’d love you my whole life through.

I know he walked away from it all,

Passed up everything I wish I had.

He threw you away and never bothered to say

That he was sorry he tore your life in half.

  He was everything to you.

He got to do all I want to do.

He could hold you. I’m sure he told you,

So many times, “I love you.”

  I can’t see how

  When you’d smile that smile,

Or when you’d start to cry

How he ignored all of the love he gained

Or the pain he caused and let it remain.

I ask myself, “Why? Oh, why?”

How could he give you up like that?

How could he be your other half

  And then act as though

The thought of it made him laugh.

  He was a fool.

  I’ve been one, too,

But then again, I’ve never had you.

  When you smile that smile,

  I nearly lose my mind.

I can’t take the eyes off of you

  That never thought they’d find

Someone that looks the way you do,

  Whose lips seem like they’re

  Sweet to consume.

  If there is still room

  In the heart left behind,

  What’s not torn up inside,

  Nobody would ever love you

The way I’d love you my whole life through.

  If you were my life,

If I could have been him,

  And you’d been my wife,

  I would have never

  Let us not be together.

I would have given my all

  To make it alright.

  When you smile that smile,

  I nearly lose my mind.

I can’t take the eyes off of you

  That never thought they’d find

Someone that looks the way you do,

  Whose lips seem like they’re

  Sweet to consume.

  If there is still room

  In the heart left behind,

  What’s not torn up inside,

  Nobody would ever love you

The way I’d love you my whole life through.

If I could be with you,

I’d love you my whole life through.

  I’d never regret it

  And never let it

  Be anything I’d abuse.

I’d be too afraid to lose

The one that could make me smile,

The one that would be so worthwhile.

  I can’t deny, though I don’t know why,

  You’re all I want; I don’t lie; it’s far too true.

  When you smile that smile,

  I nearly lose my mind.

I can’t take the eyes off of you

  That never thought they’d find

Someone that looks the way you do,

  Whose lips seem like they’re

  Sweet to consume.

  If there is still room

  In the heart left behind,

  What’s not torn up inside,

  Nobody would ever love you

The way I’d love you my whole life through.

If you could only see me there

And only know what I feel,

I’d do my best to beat all the rest

And show you that feeling like that

  Can still be real.

  I’d never give up
on you.

I’d never be unfaithful or untrue.

I’d love you with all of my broken heart,

And I’d love you my whole life through.

  The World to Me

  Tonight, I played that song.

  You know the one

  You loved

  To dance to

  Something neither of us

  Ever knew.

  I still can’t believe

That all I did was blink,

And you weren’t there with me.

  You fought so hard

  To get away,

  So I let you go,

Though I was the only one

Of us who could ever know

Just what you meant to me.

  You could not be

  Anymore in love with me.

  Now that you’re marrying him,

I wish you all the best.

All of my hopes and dreams

  Are all wearing thin,

So much so, so I put it all aside.

  You’d have never guessed

  That I can’t begin

  To tell you

What I even kind of feel inside.

  You never did see

That you were the world to me.

You were the one and only and only one

That was ever more than just for fun

Or for denying what I really needed ever at all,

And until not long ago, if you’d ever called,

  I would have dropped everything

Just to come running to the one who tore

  Open my soul

And left me for dead and thought it

  Did not mean a thing.

I Miss You More Than You Know

I miss you more than you know

I love you more than I show

Because I can't show it to someone

  Who's never around

  Though I let you go

  I can't really let go

I've lost all of my hope

And I am so broken down

I miss you more than you see

Because you don't talk to me

  Except when you

Need another to make you believe

  That you still have control

And you can take a piece

  And leave an aching hole

  I still try

  To find some reason why

It all had to go this way

  Every tear that I cry

Is another knife in my eye

  Leaving me with even more

That I wish I could say

  You almost act

Like you kind of want me back

You told me you're not really done

  The most painful fact

Is that what you think I lack

is what you see in another someone

Even though he's been playing you

  You told me it's true

You're the one that's afraid to be alone

You give me hope I haven't known

And then take more away and leave me with none

  I look for some excuse

  So that we can talk

  But it's of no use

I'm fading away to a place I cannot come back from

  I imagine a day

When you might feel as I do and say

That the pain can be undone

And you'll forget why it ended and we can fix it

And you'll let me be your one

  But that won't happen

  It's only imagined

I miss you now so much

  You're still my great passion

  I
